I went to get my first consultation 3 weeks before (traveled from Singapore). I was originally planning to do it that same few days around consultation but as I get visiting doctors I realized that this was not a simple surgery and got pretty freaking scared. It took a trip back to SG to prepare my mind and flew back after 2 weeks and decided to get it done.
I was put to sleep and woke up a few hours later in the worst pain I could have imagined. Sharp shooting pains in my lower jaw and barely being able to breath really took a toll. What was worse was if my upper teeth and lower teeth didn't end up aligning properly (Occlusal equilibration) they would have to do another procedure to fix that as well..Thank God it came out okay the first time because I'm not sure what I would do if I had to go through this a second time. I was constantly having nosebleeds and my jaw would barely open so I was constantly struggling to breath for the past week post-op. IT WAS HELL but finally the pain is subsiding and swelling is starting to go down as well. I will keep you guys posted on how it goes for week 2 and onwards.
